Triruchengodu is present in Namakkal district. Trichengodu is situated around the surroundings of Salem and Erode in Kongunaadu. Tiruchengode is famous for the Ardhanarishvara temple. This explains the unity of Lord Siva and Parvathi. In this temple Goddess Parvathi has shared her half with Lord Shiva. It is one of the 64 manifestations of Lord Shiva. This hill appears to be red in color, so the name for the hill is Chengode. There is a story that why the hill appears as red. Once there was a fight between the Adi Seshan and Vayu and the Adi Seshan was blowed to Triruchengodu and the blood which was spilled by Adi Seshan made the hill red. This temple was built with ancient cultures, sculptured pillars and mandapams. This temple has great history that it was mentioned in Silapathikaram as Neduvelkunru. There is also a temple for Lord Muruga which is famous in Triruchengodu, which is located in the same hill. Around the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu, it is considered as the 4th of the 7 Tevara Stalams.
